The hotel stay is becoming as much a reason to travel as the destination itself. In 2026, new properties are leaning into experiences that go beyond a well-appointed room, with private spaces for multi-generational holidays, wellness retreats in nature, architecture rooted in local heritage and beachfront settings designed around different kinds of travellers.
The shift is also broadening the map. Emerging leisure destinations are attracting new hospitality brands, while established resorts are reworking their spaces to suit travellers looking for more privacy and a residential-style experience. At the same time, major new developments are using landscape, food and culture to create a stronger sense of place.
From mountain escapes and heritage-led retreats to ultra-luxury coastal resorts, these are seven new and noteworthy hotel projects shaping the way we travel in 2026.
The Aarlis Hotel Panchkula, Vignette Collection, Haryana

IHG Hotels & Resorts has brought its Vignette Collection brand to India and South West Asia for the first time with the opening of The Aarlis Hotel Panchkula. Set against the Shivalik Hills, the 145-room hotel is part of the Chandigarh Tricity region and combines contemporary design with touches inspired by its surroundings.
Food and drink are central to the experience, with venues including Sapio for all-day dining, Cabinet V for contemporary Indian and European cuisine, Wakerie for artisanal bakes, Jigger for cocktails and Sky VI for rooftop evenings overlooking the Shivaliks.
The hotel also introduces Venu-Nada, a signature evening ritual featuring traditional oil lamps accompanied by live flute and tabla performances. Guests can spend time at the spa, fitness centre and swimming pool, while nearly 30,000 square feet of event space caters to weddings, celebrations and corporate gatherings.
Its location makes it a useful base for exploring Morni Hills, Sukhna Lake, the Rock Garden and Chandigarh's Capitol Complex.
Park Inn by Radisson Bengaluru Whitefield, Karnataka

Whitefield has long been associated with Bengaluru's technology sector, but its evolution into a major commercial and mixed-use district has created a growing demand for hospitality. The newly opened Park Inn by Radisson Bengaluru Whitefield is designed to cater to that market.
The 82-room upper-midscale hotel is located in AECS Layout, Kundalahalli, with access to Whitefield, Brookfield, Marathahalli, and the Outer Ring Road business corridor. Accommodation includes Superior, Deluxe, Junior Suite, and Executive Suite categories, with contemporary interiors and work-friendly spaces.
RBG, the hotel's all-day dining restaurant and bar, serves local and international cuisine, while a rooftop fitness centre gives guests panoramic city views. There is also 1,153 square feet of meeting space, making the hotel particularly suited to corporate travellers, project teams and short business stays.
Soul By Araiya Paithalmala, Kerala
Araiya Hotels & Resorts has expanded its Kerala portfolio with the opening of Soul by Araiya Paithalmala – A Vihaara Resort. Set in Paithalmala, the property brings the brand's boutique retreat concept to a lesser-known mountain destination in the state.
The resort is centred on nature, wellness and a sense of place, reflecting the growing interest in experiential stays beyond Kerala's established tourism circuit. Its setting in the Western Ghats makes it particularly suited to travellers seeking a slower escape surrounded by forested hills and outdoor experiences.
The opening adds another dimension to Kerala's growing collection of boutique resorts, as more properties look towards the state's quieter landscapes rather than its traditional backwaters and beaches.
Amanvari, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Aman has arrived on Mexico's Baja East Cape with Amanvari, an intimate resort within the exclusive Costa Palmas community. Located where the Sea of Cortés meets the desert and estuary, the property is shaped around its dramatic natural setting.
The resort has 18 standalone Casitas, each designed to maximise privacy and indoor-outdoor living. At 82 square metres, each Casita comes with an expansive terrace of up to 200 square metres, a private heated pool, outdoor shower and fireplace. Some are elevated above the estuary, while others sit closer to the shore.
Dining includes Luma, which focuses on Mexican coastal traditions and open-fire cooking; Arva, for Italian cuisine; and Sesui, a Japanese restaurant with a 10-seat omakase counter.
The Aman Spa and Wellness centre includes six treatment rooms, hydrotherapy facilities, a banya, hammam, fitness centre, beauty salon and open-air yoga pavilion. It also features a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Temazcal sweat lodge.
Beyond the resort, guests can explore the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, go horseback riding, take private boat excursions and visit Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. Amanvari also offers access to Costa Palmas' wider 1,500-acre estate, which includes organic farms and orchards, beachfront, a golf course, marina and yacht club.
Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam

While Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai is not a new hotel, its latest renovation gives travellers another reason to look at the Hoi An property in 2026. The resort has unveiled its first newly renovated Signature Three-Bedroom Pool Villas, expanding its residential-style accommodation.
Designed by HBA Singapore, the Signature Ocean-View and Signature Beachfront Three-Bedroom Pool Villas combine contemporary coastal interiors with Vietnamese design influences. Both are built around indoor-outdoor living, private gardens and enhanced infinity pools.
Each villa has three bedrooms and generous shared spaces, making the accommodation particularly suited to families and multi-generational groups travelling together. Curated in-villa experiences and exclusive guest privileges add to the residential feel.
The renovation reflects a wider shift in luxury travel towards larger private accommodation, as families and groups increasingly look for stays that combine hotel-level service with the space and privacy of a private residence.
Wynn Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE
Wynn Al Marjan Island may still be a year away from welcoming its first guests, but its latest milestone puts the resort firmly on the hospitality radar. The property has completed its 550-metre beachfront, sheltered lagoon and offshore reef ahead of its planned 2027 opening.
Located along Ras Al Khaimah's coastline, the beachfront will feature 61 cabanas, 372 chaise lounges and three private bungalows. The sheltered lagoon is planned for activities including swimming, snorkelling, paddleboarding and kayaking.
The resort will also divide its waterfront into three distinct environments: Resort Beach, Adult Beach and Enclave Beach. Each is being designed around a different combination of amenities, services, layout and privacy.
The project is part of Ras Al Khaimah's growing ambitions as a luxury leisure destination, with Wynn set to bring its first beachfront resort to the emirate.
Tree of Life, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu

IHCL is taking its Tree of Life brand to Karaikudi with a planned 46-key resort inspired by the architectural heritage of the Chettinad region.
The greenfield project will draw from the area's distinctive Chettiar mansions and traditional design elements while incorporating contemporary comforts. Dining will include an all-day restaurant focused on authentic Chettinad cuisine, alongside wellness and recreation facilities such as a swimming pool, gym and spa.
The project adds to IHCL's growing presence in Tamil Nadu and reflects the increasing interest in heritage-led and experiential travel. Karaikudi, known for its grand mansions, intricate architecture and culinary traditions, offers a natural setting for a property built around local culture.
With this signing, IHCL's Tamil Nadu portfolio will reach 33 hotels, including 14 under development.
From new international brands entering Indian destinations to ultra-luxury retreats in Mexico and major beachfront developments in the Gulf, these seven properties capture the breadth of hospitality taking shape in 2026. More importantly, they reflect how the hotel stay itself is becoming part of the destination, whether through local architecture and food, expansive private villas, wellness experiences or landscapes designed to keep guests outdoors.
