Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt
The upcoming Grand Egyptian Museum is located just outside Cairo, on the Giza Plateau and near the pyramids. This state of the art museum is expected to showcase 100,000 Egyptian artefacts, which will be displayed in chronological order from prehistory to the Greco-Roman period. Nearly 5,000 objects in the museum&rsquos collection will be from Tutankhamun's tomb alone these will be transferred from the older Egyptian Museum in central Cairo.
Robot Science Museum, Seoul
As the name suggests, Robot & AI Museum, Seoul, is all about robotics. It is set to open in late 2022. The museum, housed in a futuristic sphere-like structure, has been using teams of robots for the construction. They have been assembling, moulding, polishing and doing all other required work for the curved metal façade. Another team of robots will 3D print concrete for the surrounding landscape.
Underwater Ocean Discovery Centre, Busselton
The new Australian Underwater Discovery Centre is an artificial reef containing more than 300 different marine species, including tropical and sub-tropical corals. It is located at Busselton Jetty in Western Australia. It is two kilometres out in the sea, partially submerged and is expected to be the world's largest marine observatory when it opens its doors at the end of 2022. Visitors can learn more about the unique aquatic environment by visiting the attraction's galleries and exhibition spaces above sea level before descending to an observatory on the ocean floor.
Hong Kong Palace Museum, Hong Kong
The opening of Hong Kong's M museum is expected in November. The museum is dedicated to China's royal artefacts on loan from Beijing's Forbidden City. It will hold a collection of around 800 artefacts from Beijing&rsquos Palace Museum, including 160 national treasures. The HK$3.5 billion attraction will feature nine galleries, showcasing art collections from the Palace Museum. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is funding this project.
Museum of Modern Electronic Music, Frankfurt
The Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM) is scheduled to open on April this year. A visit to this museum is a must if you are keen to know about the history of electronic music and the evolution of its various genres and sub-genres. MOMEM promises to hold movie evenings, concerts, and club nights, as well as talks and workshops with guest DJs, producers, and artists, in addition to immersive installations and temporary exhibitions, all to create a community of music enthusiasts.
Musée de Cluny, France
This popular museum, showcasing collections from the Middle Ages and being thoroughly refurbished, is expected to reopen this year. A new route will lead visitors from the Byzantine collections and the birth of Gothic art up to the 1500s, including the famous Lady and the Unicorn tapestries. Some of the major overhauls included the restoration of a Gothic chapel and the ruins of ancient Gallo-Roman thermal baths.
Istanbul Museum of Modern Art
Istanbul Modern, Turkey&rsquos first museum of modern and contemporary art, has been functioning out of a temporary address since 2018. However, the museum is expected to return to its original address &ndash Karaköy on the shores of the Bosphorus &ndash after the construction of the new building is complete. Some of the additions to the rebuilt space will be a library, cinema, design store and event spaces, and artefacts from the private collection of a well-known Turkish family and the museum's founder.
Museum of Broadway, New York City
New York City's Theatre District will now have its first museum fully dedicated to Broadway with the scheduled opening in the summer. Exhibits of the museum include &lsquoThe Making of a Broadway Show&rsquo and a history of musical game-changers which will provide an informative and entertaining insight into behind the curtains happenings. The stories of New York City's theatre industry will be told through immersive video projections and installations.
