Gladstone’s Library is located in Hawarden, Flintshire, Wales, and is the national memorial to William Ewart Gladstone, the Victorian statesman and four times Prime Minister of Great Britain. It is open to anyone who wishes to use its collections and services. It offers 26 bedrooms for overnight guests, an on-site restaurant and cafe, a guest lounge and a chapel. The library also runs regular tours, talks, workshops, masterclasses and residential courses for writers, researchers and readers.

The library was founded by Gladstone himself in 1894, when he decided to share his personal collection of books with the public, especially those who faced financial constraints. He donated 32,000 books and £40,000 to the library, and personally wheeled them from his home at Hawarden Castle to the library site. He also unpacked them and put them onto shelves using his own classification system.

The library building was designed by John Douglas and opened in 1902 as a public subscription. The residential wing was funded by the Gladstone family and welcomed its first guest in 1906. The library is now a Grade I listed building and a registered charity. The library contains over 2,50,000 books, pamphlets and journals, covering topics such as theology, history, culture and politics.

The library also houses several unique archival collections, such as the Gladstone Collection, which comprises items from Gladstone’s own library, and the Glynne-Gladstone Collection, which contains papers of the Gladstone and Glynne families.

In a diary entry dated December 23, 1895, Gladstone described the establishment of the library at St Deiniol's. According to the entry, he had constituted his trust on that day, and the total cost of the work was around £41 to £42000, which included some maintenance charges up to December 31, 1895. "I have this day constituted my trust at St Deiniol’s. The cost of the work has been I think £41 to £42000, including some charges of maintenance to Dec. 31. 95. May God of His mercy prosper it."
