The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a challenging hike covering 75 kilometers in the Western Himalayas of Kashmir. It is one of the most beautiful treks in Kashmir covering the lakes of Gangabal, Vishansar, and Kishansar. On average, the trek involves more than 12 kilometers of hiking every day. It starts at Sonmarg and finishes at Naranag, and is suitable for individuals aged 15 and above. Due to the terrain, prior trekking experience is advisable. The trek takes hikers through peaceful valleys and towering peaks, attracting adventurers from all over the world. It offers a glimpse into the rich history, diverse biodiversity, and unparalleled beauty of the Kashmir region, with stunning azure lakes, lush green meadows, snow-capped peaks, and ancient villages. This trek to a picturesque high-altitude lake starts from Gulmarg and can be done in one day, making it a must for those who like to do short treks. The lake remains frozen for most of the year. From the serene Khilanmarg meadow, which is situated a few kilometers from Gulmarg, you can catch a glimpse of the majestic Nanga Parbat.

As you embark on the renowned twin lakes trek, you'll be greeted by some of the most breathtaking meadows. The rolling grasslands and the captivating backdrop of the Kolahi Mountains make this trek an unforgettable experience. And the twin lakes, with their crystal-clear waters, offer a serene and rejuvenating escape into the heart of nature.

The journey to the enchanting Kolahoi Glacier commences from the picturesque Aru village, nestled in the Anantnag district. Revered as the birthplace of the mighty Lidder and Jhelum rivers, the Kolahoi Glacier is often referred to as the "Goddess of Light". The glacier encapsulates the allure of Kashmir, guiding adventurers through captivating streams, tranquil lakes, verdant forests, and idyllic riverbanks along the Lidder. After traversing the scenic Lidderwat valley, a 10km trek from Aru village, and Satlunjan, the journey leads to the pristine Dudhsar Lake. Descending 1.5km, visitors are treated to a breathtaking panorama of the majestic Kolahoi Glacier.

The Sonmarg Gangabal trek begins from Srinagar. As you make your way towards the Gangabal lakes, you'll pass through the picturesque Sonamarg meadows, Nichnai pass, and Vishansar-Kishnasar lakes. Along the way, you'll catch a glimpse of the magnificent Harmukh Mountain and experience the lifestyle of the nomadic tribes living in the vicinity of the mountains.
