Rajasthan's only hill station – Mount Abu, is framed by the Aravalli Hills and offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, grand architecture, spirituality and historical landmarks.  From the architectural marvel showcased in the Dilwara Jain Temples to the boat rides on the Nakki Lake – there is something for everyone. This hill station has pleasant weather away from Rajasthan's heat and is home to hills and viewpoints for witnessing beautiful sunrise and sunsets and waterfalls during the monsoon season. Here's a 2-day guide for your trip to Mount Abu so you can immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the place and explore the city the right way.

Day 1

Morning

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Shree Ambe Restaurant for local delicacies like fresh kachoris and poha with a hot cup of masala chai. After breakfast, head to the Nakki Lake – which is surrounded by the majestic hills, serene oasis and quaint cottages for a calming boat ride. You can also take a leisurely walk around the lake to enjoy scenic views and fresh air and look out for Toad Rock – a rock formation like a toad above the water.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, visit the famous Dilwara Jain Temples, which are renowned for their intricate marble carvings. There are five of these white marble temples with intricately carved walls, dome ceilings and pillars. You can take a guided tour if you want to learn about the history and grand architecture of this place. Post that, head to the Jodhpur Bhojanalaya to indulge in authentic Rajasthani thali with ker sangria, gate ki sabzi and dal baati churma. Then, you can head to the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University to explore their campus, where you can learn about spirituality and meditation in the tranquil backdrop of Mount Abu Hills.

Evening

In the evening, head out to Sunset Point, where you can see the colourful hues of gold and orange over the Aravalli Hills. For dinner, go to the Mulberry Tree Restaurant – for a mix of Indian and Chinese cuisines. With its beautifully decorated interiors and warm ambience, this place makes for a perfect place to enjoy a meal after a day of exploring. To end the night, take a night stroll around the tranquil waters of Nakki Lake with the twinkling lights of the streets and nearby cafes and hills framing the sky.

Morning

Start your morning with a visit to Guru Shikhar, which has the highest peak of the Aravalli Range. This place is also home to Dattatreya Temple, which is believed to be a personification of the Hindu Trinity, which consists of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. Head for breakfast at Café Shikibo, where you can have sandwiches, pastries, coffee, or Indian dishes like poha. The café has cosy seating and a laid-back vibe – perfect for breakfast.

Afternoon

Grab lunch at Arbuda Restaurant because they serve food like no other. Try authentic flavours in the dhaba – whether flavourful curries or daal baati churma, you will get it all. After that, head to the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can spot leopards, sloth bears, and a variety of birds. You can also take a guided jeep safari tour to explore the open grasslands, dense forests, and rocky terrain dotted with colourful flora.

Evening

During the evening, visit the Honeymoon Point, which is known for its stunning views and romantic ambience. After that, head to the Nakki Lake Market or Khadi Bhadar to shop for local souvenirs like colourful handicrafts, Rajasthani textiles, beautifully carved marble statues, pottery and ethnic jewellery.

For dinner, head to the Jaipur Palace Restaurant for your last authentic Rajasthani dinner. Try their famous laal maas to indulge in the true flavours of Rajasthan. End the night at your hotel star gazing because the clear skies of Mount Abu are perfect for it.

How to Reach

The nearest airport to Mount Abu is Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur, about 165 km away. From Udaipur, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Mount Abu. Udaipur has good connectivity with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. The Abu Road Railway Station is located about 28 km from the town.
