The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced the launch of the upgraded Golden Chariot Luxury Train for the 2026–27 tourist season. The move brings one of India’s better-known luxury rail services back with updated facilities and a revised passenger offering.

According to an official statement, the iconic train—known for showcasing the heritage, culture, and landscapes of South India—has been reimagined with enhanced onboard amenities, redesigned interiors, and improved passenger services aimed at offering a more immersive luxury travel experience.
IRCTC said the latest version of the service includes improved onboard amenities and promotional offers for travellers. The train has been reintroduced with a mix of traditional styling and updated comforts for the upcoming season.

The upgraded Golden Chariot features refreshed cabins with plush furnishings, modern décor elements, and technology-driven comforts including Smart TVs and Wi-Fi-enabled entertainment systems. Safety enhancements such as CCTV surveillance and advanced fire alarm systems have also been incorporated to improve onboard security.
The train can accommodate up to 80 guests across 40 cabins, including double-bed and twin-bed configurations, along with a specially designed cabin for differently abled passengers.
Luxury Onboard Experience
The reconfigured interiors extend across dining and leisure spaces, including two signature restaurants—Ruchi and Nalapaka—which serve Indian and international cuisine. A lounge bar, Madira, and the Arogya Spa & Fitness Centre further enhance the onboard hospitality experience, combining wellness and leisure for travellers.
