For generations of travellers, it stood as the gateway to Kaziranga; today, the historic lodge begins a new life with a renewed sense of purpose and place. Kaziranga Heritage is the stunning new avatar of Kaziranga National Park's oldest government tourist lodge, which has officially reopened as a luxury boutique resort. Located opposite the central gate of the park in the Kohora Range, the landmark property marries its colonial-era legacy with contemporary comforts through a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and Centre Point Hospitality Group.

  • Bonoshree Bungalow: Home to eight superior and grand rooms, this restored wing also serves as a space for cultural gatherings.

  • Kohora River View Cottages: Six rooms with private verandahs overlooking the Kohora River and its surrounding floodplains.

The interiors draw heavily from local traditions, with an emphasis on regional materials, art and design rather than conventional luxury finishes.

  • Interior Design: Bamboo wickerwork, wooden flooring and pathway lights inspired by the traditional jaapi lend the property a distinct Assamese character.

  • Local Art: Works by Assamese artists Jaya Boro and Mridu Moucham Bora are displayed across the resort.

  • Cultural and Historical Tributes: Archival wildlife photographs by conservationist E.P. Gee sit alongside references to Assamese cultural figures such as Bhupen Hazarika and Zubeen Garg.

A Menu Inspired by Assam

Food is a key part of the resort's identity, with the 48-seat restaurant, Kazi Nemu, drawing on traditional Assamese ingredients and recipes while introducing contemporary interpretations.

  • The Assam Thali: Served on handcrafted bell metal plates, the thali features regional staples such as khar, fiddlehead fern, masor tenga, black sesame chicken and slices of the GI-tagged kaji nemu lemon.

  • Modern Interpretations: Traditional dishes are reworked into contemporary plates, including a deconstructed masor tenga paired with pirali palak greens and elephant apple soup.

  • Signature Cocktails: The drinks menu, curated by mixologist Sanjeev Mondal, includes creations such as a butter tea-and-whisky blend and a chilled toddy infused with tea leaves, star anise, cinnamon and vodka.
