The all-day dining restaurant 7 Isles is hosting their first-ever food festival, "MH 48 – A Journey Through Maharashtrian Culinary Heritage" this weekend. Curated by the executive chef at the Navi Mumbai Marriott Hotel, Rohan Malwankar, guests will embark on a tantalising culinary journey through Maharashtra’s rich gastronomic traditions, from the bustling streets of Mumbai to the rustic kitchens of Kolhapur, Nashik and beyond. The festival brings together an eclectic mix of long-lost recipes and classic Maharashtrian dishes, showcasing the state’s diversity in flavours and ingredients. Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in local favorites like Mumbai chaat, the hearty pithla bhakri, flavourful misal pao, crispy kothimbir vadi, zesty sev bhaji, stuffed and spiced bharaleli wangi, and the comforting rassa poha, among other dishes. Tanya George is an independent typographer, type designer and design educator who hosts “Typewalks” in Mumbai. This weekend she will lead participants on a walk around Colaba to examine how languages are visualised, used and represented by people in the area. The exercise will explore the identity of an area through its signage and lettering and provide a leisurely view of Colaba's typographic landscape and its evolution. “Bizarre Bazaar” is an eco-conscious craft workshop where participants can spend a lovely afternoon making charming toys and trinkets from upcycled materials. This low-key event promises good company and vibes as invitees tap their creative resources to create something new from something old. Reconnect with your inner child and explore various techniques of hand stitching and embroidery to create whimsical 2D and 3D characters and sculptures using fabric shapes, threads, ribbons, laces and buttons. No prior stitching experience is required and the workshop is beginner-friendly with materials provided. With the guidance of the Juhu Beach Studio team, participants will likely have one or two finished trinkets/toys/creatures that they can take back home with them.
