Rajasthan Tourism Boom: Over 109 Million Tourist Visits In Six Months, Here Are The Top Destinations

Rajasthan recorded more than 109 million tourist visits between January and June 2026, making it one of India’s strongest heritage tourism destinations. The state recorded 10,92,04,101 tourist visits in the first six months of the year, with domestic travellers making up the vast majority.

Of these, 10,83,59,405 were domestic visits, while international travellers accounted for 8,44,696 visits. The numbers show that Rajasthan’s appeal continues to go well beyond its famous forts and palaces, with travellers exploring spiritual destinations, wildlife areas, desert landscapes and lesser-known historic regions.

Domestic Travellers Drive Rajasthan’s Tourism Growth

Domestic travellers remained the biggest contributors to Rajasthan’s tourism numbers. Sikar recorded the highest number of domestic tourist visits between January and June, with 1,56,18,987 visits.

Chittorgarh followed with 1,33,75,121 visits, while Jaisalmer recorded 1,18,34,038 visits. The desert destination continues to draw travellers with its fort, desert experiences and traditional Rajasthani culture.

Ajmer recorded 99,28,270 visits, followed by Jaipur with 81,49,183. Karauli and Sawai Madhopur recorded 64,00,913 and 61,88,159 visits, respectively.

Sirohi, Udaipur and Churu also saw strong domestic interest, recording 61,13,562, 47,61,432 and 34,08,523 visits respectively.

The figures point to a wider spread of tourism across Rajasthan, with travellers increasingly moving beyond the state’s best-known cities.

Jaipur Leads International Tourist Visits

Jaipur remained the most popular destination among international travellers during the first half of 2026. The city recorded 2,56,293 foreign tourist visits, with its forts, palaces, museums and historic architecture continuing to attract visitors.

Udaipur came next with 1,84,045 international visits. Known for its lakes, palaces and heritage hotels, the city remains an important part of Rajasthan’s luxury and heritage tourism offering.

Jodhpur recorded 82,846 foreign visits, followed by Jaisalmer with 66,433. Sawai Madhopur, which is also known for its wildlife tourism, recorded 38,542 international visits.

Ajmer saw 36,406 foreign visits, while Dausa, Pali, Jhunjhunu and Bikaner also featured among destinations attracting international travellers.

Lesser-Known Regions Are Getting More Attention

Rajasthan’s tourism story is also changing as travellers discover destinations outside the traditional Jaipur-Udaipur-Jodhpur circuit.

Dausa and Jhunjhunu are gaining attention for their historic architecture and cultural heritage. Jhunjhunu, in particular, offers access to the Shekhawati region, known for its painted havelis.

The Kota-Hadoti region, covering Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar, also recorded more than 24 lakh tourist visits during the first six months of 2026. The region combines historic sites, temples, natural attractions and local culture.

February was the busiest month, with 5,14,132 visits, followed by January with 4,23,413 and March with 4,11,863 visits.

Marwar Continues To Grow

The Marwar region also remained an important part of Rajasthan’s tourism network. Jodhpur led the region in international visitor numbers, while Pali recorded 28,982 foreign visits.

Domestic travellers also explored Jodhpur, Pali, Barmer, Jalore, Nagaur and Balotra, showing growing interest in the wider region rather than just its main city.

Rajasthan’s Heritage Appeal Continues To Expand

The first six months of 2026 show that Rajasthan’s tourism appeal is becoming more diverse. Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer continue to be major draws, but destinations such as Kota-Hadoti, Dausa, Jhunjhunu and Marwar are adding new reasons to explore the state.

From forts and palaces to wildlife, pilgrimage sites, desert experiences, and traditional culture, Rajasthan offers travellers more ways to experience its heritage. With more than 109 million tourist visits in six months, the state continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s leading tourism destinations.
