IHCL Expands In Uttar Pradesh With A New Gateway Hotel In Agra

Agra’s appeal extends well beyond the Taj Mahal, with its position on India’s Golden Triangle circuit and growing urban infrastructure making it an important destination for both leisure and business travellers. Adding to the city’s hospitality pipeline, the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a new Gateway hotel in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Planned as a greenfield development along the Yamuna Expressway, the 232-key property will bring together dining venues, wellness facilities, and event spaces under one roof. The project is being developed in partnership with Raj Kailash Hospitality LLP and will expand IHCL’s presence in a state where the company continues to build its hotel portfolio.

A New Gateway Hotel

The upcoming Gateway Agra will be designed to accommodate a range of travellers, from visitors exploring the city’s historic landmarks to guests travelling for business, conferences, and social occasions. Its location along the Yamuna Expressway will provide access to a key road corridor connecting the National Capital Region with Agra, making it a relevant addition to the city’s developing hospitality infrastructure.

The hotel will feature 232 rooms and offer several food and beverage options, including an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant, and a bar. These facilities will cater to guests looking for different dining experiences during their stay, whether they are visiting for a short break or attending an event at the property.

Wellness will also form part of the offering, with a gym and swimming pool planned for guests who want to maintain their fitness routines while travelling. For meetings and celebrations, the hotel will have banquet halls, a conference room, and additional meeting rooms. These facilities are expected to accommodate corporate gatherings, weddings, and other social events, giving the property a role beyond conventional leisure accommodation.

Agra’s Growing Appeal

Agra remains one of India’s most recognised tourism destinations, drawing visitors to the Taj Mahal and other historical landmarks. Its place on the Golden Triangle circuit, which connects Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, makes it a regular stop on domestic and international itineraries covering North India’s architectural and cultural heritage.

IHCL Expands Uttar Pradesh

With the signing of Gateway Agra, IHCL’s portfolio in Uttar Pradesh will reach 64 hotels, including 27 properties under development. The latest addition reflects the hospitality group’s continued expansion in a state with a mix of established pilgrimage centres, heritage destinations, and growing urban markets.

Gateway is IHCL’s full-service hotel brand, positioned around stays that connect travellers with their destinations while offering dining, leisure, and business facilities. Its Agra property will add to the group’s presence in a city where tourism and infrastructure development are creating opportunities for new accommodation.
