In a recent ceremony set against the backdrop of Ras Al Khaimah’s desert landscapes, the Emirate launched its first-ever Tourism Excellence Awards. Held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island, the evening brought together visionaries, innovators, and leaders from the region’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah, the event was organised by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA). The awards night spotlighted the people and places that have helped shape this Emirate into one of the fastest-growing travel destinations in the world.

With six distinct categories—Corporate Hospitality Excellence, Individual Innovation, Culinary Artistry, Hospitality Leadership, Community Involvement, and Environmental Responsibility—the awards reflected the diverse nature of Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism ecosystem.

Raki Phillips, CEO of RAKTDA, addressed the audience with a vision rooted in ambition and shared purpose. “The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Excellence Awards mark an important milestone in our journey to become a leading global destination,” he said. “By recognising those who go above and beyond, we inspire an entire industry to dream bigger, innovate more, and connect deeper with guests and the local community.”

The awards are seen as a push towards raising the bar across the tourism sector, enhancing visitor confidence, nurturing talent, and building a travel destination that is sustainable, inclusive, and culturally.

This commitment to excellence is part of a broader vision. Since its establishment in 2011, RAKTDA has worked to elevate the Emirate’s profile on the global stage. From preserving natural heritage to creating investment opportunities and regulating tourism standards, the Authority drives Ras Al Khaimah’s transformation. With its mix of rugged mountains, beaches, ancient forts, and emerging eco-resorts, Ras Al Khaimah has quietly been evolving into a traveller’s dream.
