The Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong-China Dragon Boat Association have announced the highly anticipated 2024 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races, inviting travellers from across the globe to witness this monumental event. Scheduled for June 15th and 16th, 2024, against the breathtaking backdrop of Victoria Harbour, this two-day sporting extravaganza will showcase over 170 teams and 4,000 dragon boat athletes from around the world.

As summer draws near, Hong Kong emerges as an ideal destination for travellers from India seeking thrilling adventures and unique water activities amidst the city's vibrant atmosphere. June promises an exhilarating lineup of "splash-tastic" fun, beginning with the historic Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races and extending to music and water festivities, offering a perfect respite from the summer heat.

Dating back centuries, dragon boat racing found its modern roots in Hong Kong approximately 40 years ago, in 1976. This fast-paced sport, celebrated annually, draws hundreds of thousands of spectators and visitors from abroad, providing them with an opportunity to witness the excitement of dragon boat races while immersing themselves in the local culture.

This year's event will feature various race categories for teams of all ages, alongside a colourful fancy dress competition. Visitors can also explore Instagram-worthy dragon boat-themed LINE FRIENDS displays and indulge in local speciality drinks and sweets while cheering on the races. Additionally, a nine-day food lane along the Avenue of Stars, from June 8th to June 16th, will offer a delightful array of local craft beer, refreshing desserts, and ice-cold drinks.

A highlight not to be missed is the monthly Drone and Pyro shows at Victoria Harbour, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the festivities. On the night of June 10th, a newly curated drone show will grace the harbour, enhancing the magical ambience of the celebrations. Moreover, a captivating Pyrotechnic Display is scheduled for June 15th, the first day of the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races, promising international visitors a spectacular show under the stunning skyline of Hong Kong.
