If you have been looking for an excuse to plan a European trip around Formula 1, the 2027 calendar has three interesting options. MSC Cruises will be the title sponsor of three Grand Prix races next year, taking fans to Portugal, Belgium and Türkiye.

The three races will be held at three very different circuits, from the Algarve in southern Portugal to the forests of the Belgian Ardennes and Istanbul Park on the outskirts of Istanbul. The partnership is part of MSC Cruises’ ongoing association with Formula 1, which began in 2022 and runs through 2030.

Here is what to know about the three races.

Formula 1 Returns To Portugal In June 2027

The first race on the list is the Formula 1 MSC Cruises Grande Prêmio de Portugal 2027, which will be held from June 18 to 20. The race will take place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, near Portimão in southern Portugal. The circuit is known for its steep elevation changes, fast corners and technical sections, making it a challenging track for drivers.

More importantly for travellers, the 2027 race marks the return of Formula 1 to Portugal after a break. The Algarve is already one of Portugal’s most popular holiday regions, known for its beaches, cliffs, small coastal towns and seafood.

A Formula 1 weekend here therefore comes with plenty to do beyond the circuit. Visitors can spend race day at the track and use the rest of the trip to explore the surrounding coastline.

Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps Gets Its Turn

The Formula 1 action moves to Belgium in July for the Formula 1 MSC Cruises Belgian Grand Prix 2027, scheduled from July 23 to 25. The race will be held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, in the Belgian Ardennes. At 7.004 kilometres, it is one of the longest tracks on the current Formula 1 calendar.

The circuit is surrounded by forests and is known for its fast stretches, elevation changes and unpredictable weather. Its setting makes the Belgian Grand Prix quite different from the street circuits and purpose-built venues seen elsewhere on the calendar.

For visitors, the Ardennes offer plenty of reason to extend the trip beyond race weekend, with forests, hiking routes, historic towns and local food forming a quieter contrast to the noise and speed of the circuit.

Formula 1 Returns To Türkiye

The third MSC Cruises title-sponsored race will take place in Türkiye from October 1 to 3. The Formula 1 MSC Cruises Turkish Grand Prix 2027 will be held at Istanbul Park, around 45 kilometres from Istanbul. The circuit is 5.33 kilometres long and is unusual in Formula 1 for running counterclockwise.

Türkiye’s return to the Formula 1 calendar comes under a new five-year agreement beginning in 2027. Istanbul Park first hosted a Grand Prix in 2005 and has staged nine races in total.

For travellers, the race also offers an opportunity to combine motorsport with a city break in Istanbul. The city’s historic neighbourhoods, food markets, waterfront and landmarks make it one of the more varied destinations on the 2027 calendar.

MSC Cruises And Formula 1 Extend Their Partnership

The three title sponsorships are the latest development in MSC Cruises’ relationship with Formula 1. The partnership includes trackside branding and hospitality activations at selected races, giving the cruise company a visible presence across the championship.

The collaboration is now set to continue through 2030. MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel brand under MSC Group’s Cruise Division, will both have a presence at selected Formula 1 Grands Prix during the 2027 season.

The connection makes sense for a company whose business is centred around travel. Formula 1 also brings together a global audience that moves between cities and countries throughout the season.

What To Know About MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises is the contemporary and premium cruise brand under MSC Group’s Cruise Division. The company currently operates 23 ships and offers itineraries across more than 100 countries and over 250 destinations.

Its sister brand, Explora Journeys, launched in 2023 and focuses on the luxury end of ocean travel. The brand currently has two ships, with plans to expand its fleet to six by 2028.

With three races in Portugal, Belgium and Türkiye carrying the MSC Cruises name, the partnership will put the brand in front of Formula 1 audiences across three very different destinations.

For travellers planning a 2027 European holiday, that also means three more opportunities to build a trip around a Grand Prix weekend, whether that is along Portugal’s coast, among the forests of Belgium or in the streets of Istanbul.
