Abu Dhabi is set to introduce the world’s largest drone light show, which could change how we experience entertainment tourism. This ambitious project is being led by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) in partnership with Nova Sky Stories, a Colorado-based drone entertainment company, and Analog, an Emirati firm specialising in advanced technology.

What Makes This Drone Show By Abu Dhabi So Special?

Imagine 10,000 high-tech drones lighting the night sky, performing synchronised routines across some of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic locations. But this isn’t just about flashing lights—these performances will tell stories, blending cultural heritage, art, and innovation into a visual experience.

The announcement was made on March 11, 2025, during a signing event attended by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. This marks the beginning of a multi-year collaboration to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for immersive storytelling and cutting-edge entertainment.

Unlike traditional fireworks or static light displays, these drone shows will be dynamic, using real-time synchronisation and adaptive intelligence to create intricate formations in the sky. Some performances will even feature holographic-style storytelling, making them visually and deeply engaging for audiences.

What makes this project truly exciting is its sheer size and advanced technology. According to reports, 10,000 drones—the largest and most high-tech fleet ever used for a light show—will take to the sky. These drones will work together to create captivating visuals, making this one of the most impressive displays ever seen.

Abu Dhabi is already known for its luxury, culture, and adventure experiences. With this new attraction, the emirate is expected to draw even more visitors looking for something unique. Each show will be set in a different location, highlighting a distinct aspect of Abu Dhabi’s cultural history and futuristic vision.
