In the forested belt of central India, a new stay has opened its doors. With Tathastu Satpura, Tathastu Resorts adds another wildlife property to its portfolio, this time in Madhya Pradesh, bringing its signature hospitality closer to one of India’s lesser-visited tiger reserves.

Tathastu Satpura is the fifth wildlife retreat by Tathastu Resorts, and is located near the Satpura Tiger Reserve. The property joins the brand’s existing resorts in Pench National Park, Kanha National Park, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, and Bandhavgarh National Park.

Set in a region known for its rich biodiversity and relatively low tourist numbers, the retreat is built for travellers who prefer spending time in nature without the crowds. Managing Director Anil Agarwala describes Satpura as a place that appeals to those who want a more grounded and immersive wildlife trip.

Designing Comfort Around The Forest

The property includes 34 villa rooms and 5 exclusive pool suites. The rooms are spacious, with private verandas and views that open out towards the forest, keeping the outdoors always within sight.

Each unit has two washrooms, a small but useful feature that makes early morning safari schedules easier to manage. The overall design keeps things simple and comfortable, with an emphasis on space, privacy and clear views of the surrounding landscape.

Dining at the resort centres around Gilhari, a multi-cuisine restaurant named after the Indian giant squirrel, the official mascot of the reserve. The menu covers both Indian and international dishes.

The restaurant and bar are designed with earthy tones and wooden finishes, keeping the look in sync with the forest setting and avoiding anything too flashy or out of place.

Safari, Slow Travel, And Everything In Between

Wildlife drives remain a key part of any stay here. Safaris inside the reserve bring chances to spot tigers, leopards, sloth bears, Indian giant squirrels, sambar deer and a wide range of birds. The terrain and visitor numbers in Satpura make the experience feel less rushed compared to more crowded parks.

Away from safaris, the resort has a mix of outdoor and indoor activities. Guests can join jungle walks, head out for riverside sundowners, try pottery sessions or take reflexology walks. There’s also a games room, a box cricket area, karaoke evenings and a temperature-controlled indoor swimming pool for downtime.

The spa at the resort is run by a team of visually impaired therapists who offer therapeutic massages. The initiative brings an inclusive approach to the wellness programme while adding another layer to the guest experience.

Growing Demand For Experiential Wildlife Travel

There has been a steady rise in travellers choosing nature-focused holidays, with more interest in spending time outdoors and engaging with wildlife and ecosystems. Satpura, still relatively under the radar, is now part of that growing conversation.
