As India gears up to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, here is how you can join in. Did you know Kevadia (now Ekta Nagar) in Gujarat is home to the world’s tallest statue? The Statue of Unity – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stands at a staggering 182 metres in height, making it a record-breaking landmark.

Located about two hours from Vadodara airport, Ekta Nagar is one of the cleanest and best-maintained towns, especially around its many attractions. The drive into town is scenic, surrounded by lush cotton farms.

Drive into Statue of Unity Tent City 1 by Evoke Experiences, and you immediately realise this is the perfect place to start your exploration. After a traditional welcome, check into your luxurious cottage-style room. Surrounded by the Narmada river and flanked by the Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges, the resort offers a picturesque and peaceful retreat with all modern amenities, including an outdoor swimming pool, clubhouse, gym, amphitheatre, large dining areas, and even a conference hall. The in-house restaurant serves authentic local fare alongside international delicacies.

Immersive Experiences And Must-See Attractions

Spend a few nights soaking in the immersive experiences of the resort and surroundings. Opt for curated packages that include transportation—essential since private vehicles are not allowed near key attractions, requiring guests to use eco-friendly electric autos and buses.

Your first stop must be the Statue of Unity itself—home to a world-class museum and a high-speed lift that takes visitors up to the 45th level around the statue's chest. From there, soak in breathtaking views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam and its surrounding landscapes. Stay for the spectacular laser and sound light show that narrates Sardar Patel’s monumental role in India’s freedom struggle. Visit the enchanting Glow Garden, which is illuminated in the evenings.

The next day, enjoy a boat cruise on the sparkling Narmada River, where you might spot native birds like the white-throated kingfisher and grey heron. After breakfast, explore jungle safaris, river rafting, wellness gardens, butterfly and cacti gardens, and the Miyawaki forest. Wind down with a spiritual aarti at dusk on the Narmada banks.

At Tent City 1, you can also indulge in nature walks with a naturalist, folk dances, storytelling sessions, and musical performances. Taste local specialties such as khakra, thepla, dhokla, and fafda-jalebi or have dishes curated by the in-house chef. This retreat offers a mix of history, nature, culture, and comfort—a slow holiday that will leave you enriched and grateful.
