Singapore’s First DoubleTree By Hilton Opens At Robertson Quay: A First Look At The New Riverside Hotel

Singapore’s first DoubleTree by Hilton has opened at Robertson Quay, transforming the former Hotel Miramar into a 344-room address with river views, earthy interiors, local flavours, and a neighbourhood café-bar

A familiar Havelock Road landmark has a new name. The former Hotel Miramar, which welcomed its first guests in 1971, has been reworked into DoubleTree by Hilton Singapore Robertson Quay, marking the brand’s debut in Singapore. The 344-room hotel began welcoming guests at the end of September 2026, bringing a contemporary hospitality concept to one of the city’s established riverside neighbourhoods.

The location is one of its biggest draws. The hotel is at 401 Havelock Road, across the road from the Singapore River and within the Robertson Quay precinct. Havelock MRT Station is around a five-minute walk away, while Chinatown, Tiong Bahru, and Clarke Quay are all within easy reach. The Central Business District is also close enough to make the address useful for business travellers.

From Hotel Miramar To DoubleTree

For anyone familiar with Singapore’s hotel history, the new arrival comes with some baggage, in the best sense of the word. Hotel Miramar opened in 1971 during a period of intense urban development around Havelock Road. Along with properties such as King’s Hotel and the Apollo Hotel, it was part of the government’s urban renewal push to introduce hotels to the area. Miramar remained an independent hotel for more than five decades before closing in October 2025.

The transformation is therefore a conversion rather than a ground-up hotel. Aravest acquired the former hotel for SGD 160 million in 2025, in partnership with Wee Hur Property, before bringing Hilton in to reposition the property. The refurbishment covered guest rooms, meeting spaces, the lobby, all-day dining, the fitness centre, and pool deck. New additions include a kids' club and pickleball facilities.

The design follows DoubleTree’s refreshed Asia-Pacific design direction, built around comfort, balance, delight and belonging. Rather than chasing a glossy, overtly corporate hotel aesthetic, the interiors use warm earthy colours, terracotta accents, greenery, and tactile natural materials. The result is particularly noticeable in the guest rooms, which have a relaxed residential character and large windows. More than 200 of the 344 rooms look towards the Singapore River, with room sizes ranging from 24 to 50 square metres.

There are King, Queen, and Twin rooms, selected rooms with pull-out sofa beds, four Deluxe Suites and connecting rooms for families and groups. The rooms come with 55-inch televisions, work desks, coffee and tea facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi and Crabtree & Evelyn bath amenities. Outside the rooms, an outdoor pool with daybeds and cabanas, a wellness studio and 24-hour fitness centre round out the leisure facilities.

Come Hungry: SAUS And Brew:33

Food is one of the more interesting parts of the conversion. SAUS, the all-day restaurant, takes its name from a playful take on "sauces" and makes condiments the centre of the concept. Its Four Corners of Flavour features more than 40 house-made sauces, dips, marinades and sambals, divided across Singapore flavours, Southeast Asian culinary traditions, spicy classics and umami-rich marinades.

The menu moves through dishes such as Nyonya Prawn Salad, Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Seafood Bakar with hand-pounded sambal olek, Bak Kut Teh and a beef rendang made with Wagyu cheeks and an eleven-spice rempah. Drinks bring in familiar Singapore favourites such as Air Bandung, Milo Dinosaur and soya bean alongside cocktails, kombucha, juices, coffee and tea. Lunch and dinner service at SAUS is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026.

At the opposite end of the lobby, Brew:33 is more casual. The 64-seat café and bar revolves around three things: coffee, cookies and craft beer. It shifts from a daytime coffee stop to an evening drinking spot, with speciality coffee, chilled drinks such as Mango Coffee Latte and Choco Chip Cookie Crush, and craft beers from small-batch local breweries. Grilled satay and bak kwa sliders make up some of the bar snacks, while floor-to-ceiling windows and a pet-friendly alfresco area connect it to the neighbourhood.

The lobby also has a Ritual Hub for complimentary hands-on activities. The October programme includes a cookie-making workshop inspired by DoubleTree’s signature chocolate chip cookie.

What To Do Around Robertson Quay

The hotel works best as a base for exploring this particular stretch of Singapore on foot. Start with Robertson Quay itself, following the riverfront promenade past restaurants, cafés and bars. The area has a distinctly neighbourhood character and becomes especially appealing in the evening.

From the hotel, walk towards Clarke Quay and take a Singapore River cruise for a different perspective of the city. Chinatown is another natural stop, particularly for its temples, hawker food and shophouses. Tiong Bahru brings a different architectural and culinary side of Singapore, while Fort Canning Park is close enough for a break from the city's dense streets.

For a more traditional Singapore itinerary, Orchard Road is easily accessible, while the MRT connection makes it practical to reach the Marina Bay area, Sentosa and other parts of the city. The appeal of the new DoubleTree is therefore less about being a destination hotel in isolation and more about having a newly refreshed address from which to experience central Singapore.
