It’s a slow evening at a Tokyo bathhouse. A man steps out of the changing room, drops his robe, and for a second, the whole place goes quiet. His back is covered—a dragon winding through clouds and waves, claws wrapped around a burning jewel, a koi jumping underneath it towards a cherry tree mid-bloom. Nobody says a word. He pays, grabs a towel, and sits down away from everyone else. Anywhere else in the world, that back would get him stopped for compliments. Here, it might just get him asked to leave.
