The Postcard Hotel has won 12 awards at the 2026 World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean ceremony in the Maldives, the highest number received by any hotel brand in Asia at this year’s regional awards.

The awards cover properties across India, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, with wins spanning boutique hotels, wildlife resorts, mountain retreats, and new openings. The recognition comes as the eight-year-old brand continues to expand its portfolio across the region.

A Big Night For The Postcard Hotel

The brand retained its title as Asia’s Leading Boutique Hotel Brand 2026, while several of its individual properties also received regional and national awards.

Among them was The Postcard on the Arabian Sea, Karnataka, which was named Asia’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2026. The Postcard Gir Wildlife Sanctuary was recognised as Asia’s Leading Wildlife Resort 2026.

Closer to home, two newer properties also made their mark. The Postcard on the Mandovi River won India’s Leading New Hotel 2026, while The Postcard in the Himalayan Willows, Leh, received the title of India’s Leading Mountain Resort 2026.

The remaining awards recognised other properties across the brand’s growing portfolio in India, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

The range of the winning properties reflects how The Postcard has built its portfolio. Rather than creating hotels that look and feel the same everywhere, the brand has largely taken a destination-first approach.

Its hotels sit in very different settings, from beaches and rivers to wildlife reserves, tea estates and high-altitude Himalayan landscapes.

The Leh property, which opened last year, is one of its newest additions. Located at around 11,500 ft, The Postcard in the Himalayan Willows combines large suites and personalised service with views of the surrounding mountains.

The Postcard Gir Wildlife Sanctuary, meanwhile, places the stay within one of India's important wildlife landscapes, while its Arabian Sea property takes the brand in a completely different direction with a coastal setting.

A Different Idea Of Luxury

The Postcard Hotel was founded in 2018 by Kapil Chopra, along with seasoned luxury hoteliers Akanksha Lamba, Anirudh Kandpal, and Raman Bansal. The brand was built around a different take on luxury, one that puts the destination and the freedom of the guest at the heart of the stay.

Its hotels are intimate and focus on generous spaces, personalised service, and experiences that draw from their surroundings. Rather than following a fixed formula, The Postcard gives each property its own identity, shaped by its location and the character of the destination.

This approach has helped the brand create a portfolio that is varied but still recognisable. From beaches and wildlife reserves to Himalayan landscapes and heritage properties, each hotel has its own story, while the focus on thoughtful service and a strong connection to place remains the same.

Kapil Chopra, Founder and CEO of The Postcard Hotel, said the latest awards reflect the brand’s belief in giving guests more freedom, space, and memorable experiences.

He also highlighted guest feedback as an important measure of the brand’s success, saying that the combination of industry recognition and the response from travellers gives The Postcard confidence to keep rethinking what luxury hospitality can look like.

The 12 awards come as The Postcard Hotel prepares for a significant period of expansion. The company currently operates 12 hotels across India, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, with nine more properties planned to open over the next 12 months.

The expansion will also take the brand into Nepal. The Postcard on the Rapti River, Chitwan, is scheduled to open in October 2026, adding a wildlife-focused destination to its portfolio.

The company has also indicated that its longer-term plans extend beyond South Asia, with international expansion into other destinations on the cards.

What Happens Next

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 and recognise travel and tourism businesses across different categories and markets. Winners are decided through votes from travel professionals and consumers, with verified industry professionals receiving additional voting weight.

For The Postcard Hotel, some of this year's winning properties will now move forward to the World Travel Awards Grand Final, scheduled to be held in Tanzania in December 2026.

For a brand that only opened its first hotels in 2018, the 12 regional awards mark a significant moment. More importantly, they come at a time when The Postcard is moving from being a small collection of destination-led hotels towards a wider international portfolio.
