In a major step towards digitising public services, the District Administration of South Andaman has launched an online helicopter ticket booking system for the Sri Vijaya Puram–Hutbay sector. The new application—accessible at https://sites.google.com/view/dcsvp—aims to improve accessibility, transparency, and convenience for passengers, replacing the previous manual submission process that required multiple visits to district or tehsil offices.

Until now, travellers were required to submit physical applications and documents in person and return to check finalised passenger lists, often resulting in delays and inconvenience. The new system allows users to apply and view updated passenger lists online.

Developed entirely in-house without incurring any financial cost, the initiative was introduced by Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, ADM, South Andaman, who emphasised the administration’s commitment to efficient and transparent public service delivery.

While a similar online system was introduced earlier in Nicobar District, it was limited to Car Nicobar and lacked full functionality. The South Andaman version is more comprehensive, enabling two-way bookings between Sri Vijaya Puram and Hutbay.

This digital leap is part of a broader push to modernise governance and service access across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
