Lately, the premier Indian carrier, Air India, has been making headlines for all the right reasons, from jazzing up its in-flight offerings to revamping its whole look. And now, it has taken that a level higher by partnering up with ace designer Manish Malhotra to design new uniforms for all the Air India employees, from cabin crew and cockpit crew to the ground and security staff.
As per reports, the new look designed by Malhotra will begin rolling out by the end of 2023. This would add to their efforts in making Air India a more modern and global brand. Speaking more about what this collaboration would entail, Campbell Wilson, CEO & MD of Air India, said, "Air India is delighted to be collaborating with Manish Malhotra to realise our shared ambition of representing the very best of a vibrant, bold, and progressive India on the world stage. We are working closely with Manish and his team to combine elements of our brand, our heritage and our culture, together with the unique requirements of the airline environment, for what we hope will be a fresh and exciting new look that supports and represents the new Air India."
As a part of the process, Malhotra has begun meeting Air India's staff and has been conducting fitting sessions to understand the needs better. Elaborating more on what he has in mind for the design, Malhotra said, "Reimagining their uniforms is the onset of a journey of joy and collaboration, and I am excited to embark on it. Our shared ideology is simple yet profound: to evolve without erasing, to modernise without forgetting. Together, we aim to intertwine tradition with the future, crafting uniforms where comfort meets authenticity, wrapped in timeless elegance."
