The Aadyam Theatre is closing its seventh season with “The Horse,” a spirited comedy directed by Sangeet Natak Akademi Award-winner Sunil Shanbag.
The play is an absurdist satire set in ancient Rome that hilariously explores power, celebrity obsession and the madness of authoritarian rule. At the centre of the chaos is a narcissistic emperor, a desperate boy with a horse and a high-stakes bet that sends the empire spiralling into comedic disorder. Adapted from the work of Hungarian playwright Julius Hay, the show has biting humour, original music and an immersive design.
