In a bid to promote sustainable tourism and offer travellers an unforgettable glamping experience, Odisha Tourism has officially announced the much-anticipated return of its annual flagship camping event, Eco Retreat. Set to commence on December 1, this year's Eco Retreat will unfold across seven picturesque locations, promising a blend of luxury, adventure, local culture, and gastronomic delights.

Tourists eager to secure their spot at this event can mark their calendars for September 15, as bookings will open at all seven venues. The event will feature 220 luxury tents, ensuring visitors a unique and immersive stay in the heart of nature.

The fifth edition of Eco Retreat Odisha will be hosted at seven stunning destinations, including Konark, Putsil, Sonapur, Daringbadi, Bhitarkanika, Satkosia, and Hirakud. Each location is primed to showcase the region's rich cultural heritage, offering mouth-watering Odia cuisine, captivating folk music, and dance performances.

During the recent celebration of the 44th Foundation Day of the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), Chairman Lenin Mohanty praised the Eco Retreat event, acknowledging its pivotal role in promoting sustainable tourism in the state. He emphasised that OTDC's efforts had not only bolstered tourism but had also significantly contributed to the state's economy by generating employment opportunities and supporting local businesses. In the previous fiscal year, OTDC reported a profit of INR 5 crore.

Chairman Lenin Mohanty Applauds Eco Retreat's Impact

In a statement, Tourism Director Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav highlighted OTDC's role as a catalyst for change, particularly during the challenging times of the pandemic. Jadhav praised the corporation's dedication to tapping into the untapped potential of the travel and tourism sector. He mentioned various initiatives, such as "Odisha walks," establishing boat clubs in Silver City and Taladanda, and their efforts to promote culinary tourism in the state.

As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, awards were presented to the best-performing units of OTDC from the previous financial year. Panthanivas Puri and Panthanivas Gopalpur received recognition as the best-performing accommodation units, while Nimantran Bhubaneswar was also honoured. Additionally, the unit managers of accommodation units and restaurants that consistently delivered exceptional services to tourists were felicitated. The event witnessed the presence of the Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women, Minati Behera, and renowned actress Elina Samantaray.

With Eco Retreat Odisha set to unfold across these seven breathtaking locations, the event promises to be a highlight of the state's tourism calendar, offering an exquisite blend of luxury, culture, adventure, and natural beauty.
