India’s largest water carnival, the Jheel Mahotsav, is taking place this year for the first time in the Jabalpur and Mandla districts. The 15-day festival is taking place at the scenic Bargi Dam from April 5-20, promising a unique blend of water, land and aerial adventure activities set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Narmada River.

First started in 2016, this year's festival kicked off on April 5 with grand inaugural festivities led by Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh and Public Health Engineering Minister Sampatiya Uike. Several members of parliament and members of legislative assemblies, along with district collectors from Jabalpur and Mandla, were also in attendance.

The Jheel Mahotsav is a vibrant celebration that encapsulates the essence of Madhya Pradesh's cultural heritage. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Bargi Dam, it showcases artistic performances, the local cuisine, and traditional crafts of the region. The combination of nature’s beauty and the spirited atmosphere contributes to an unparalleled experience, serving not only as a platform for entertainment but also as an opportunity to promote environmental awareness and tourism in the region.

Adventure seekers can look forward to a host of thrilling experiences. From motorboat rides, water sports and paramotoring, to ground-based adventure activities, the event brings the excitement of coastal cities and Himalayan adventure zones to Madhya Pradesh. Professional trainers from the Satpura Adventure Club and expert boating crews ensure the safety of participants.

The full list of water activities includes water scooters, surfing, kayaking, banana boat rides, Ringo rides, flyboarding, and cruises.

The full list of aerial and ground activities includes hot air balloons, paramotoring, parasailing, bungee jumping, ATV biking, wall climbing, a Burma bridge, a net walk, zorbing, shooting, archery, paintball, horse rides, camel rides and tyre swings.

To enhance the experience for guests, air-conditioned Swiss tents, heritage cottages and houseboats will be available at the accommodations, while food zones and local product stalls will be available inside large domes at the venue. Every evening, cultural performances and music shows will entertain visitors.
