The Apricot Blossom Festival is currently ongoing till May 4, 2025, showcasing the blossoming of apricot trees, referred to as Chuli or Halmann. The festival also highlights the region’s commitment to eco-friendly tourism and community involvement at apricot-growing villages such as Garkone, Darchiks, Yulgar, Alchi, Domkhar, Sumoor, Wanla, and Tar, nestled along the Indus Valley in Ladakh.
Lasting over a month, the apricot blossom season marks the arrival of spring in this high-altitude area known for its exquisite apricot varieties. By drawing tourists, the Apricot Blossom Festival enhances tourism and encourages exploration of Ladakh's hidden gems.
The apricot orchards in Leh and Kargil, Ladakh, come alive each spring during the Apricot Blossom Festival, celebrating the beauty of blooming apricot trees. Surrounded by apricot trees in full bloom, you can soak in the festive spirit and natural beauty of the season. With soft pink hues that rival cherry blossoms, the festival attracts travellers and nature enthusiasts. Launched in 2023, the festival adds more villages each year, offering traditional hospitality and local experiences.
During the festival, visitors can enjoy engaging cultural programmes featuring traditional music, dance performances, and artistic exhibitions that highlight Ladakhi heritage. Local artisans display handcrafted textiles, jewellery, and unique souvenirs. Food lovers will delight in apricot-based delicacies, including dried apricots, jams, and traditional dishes.
