Delhi is a city where it gets difficult to breathe. Enjoying the little pleasures like going for a walk or enjoying the cool shade of a tree on a hot summer day, can sometimes get too much. But, we have news for you. If you love nature, well, you'll be happy to know that Delhi has a new biodiversity park in the pipeline and very soon will become a place where you can enjoy greenery.

Delhi already has six the Yamuna Biodiversity Park (Wazirabad), Kamla Nehru Ridge (Civil Lines), Tilpath Valley, Aravalli Biodiversity Park (Vasant Vihar), Neela Kauz Lake, and one behind Tughlaqabad Fort. The seventh one, the South Biodiversity Park, is going to be near the DND Expressway and it was recently approved by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The biodiversity park will be developed on the Yamuna floodplain over the next five-six years.

According to CR Babu, head of Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystem, the park would cover 115 hectares. it would have a constructed wetland to purify the surroundings and the Yamuna. It is believed that this biodiversity park model will be similar to the Neela hauz one.

Delhi's rising population, fast-paced industrialization and urbanisation, and rapid depletion of natural resources has been taking a toll on the capital. Babu and his team have been tasked to create an ecosystem that will reduce the damage and improve the flora and fauna of the region.

We can't wait for the park to open
