Catalan Architect Gaudis Masterpiece Can Be Booked Through Airbnb

Come Fall, some lucky people will be able to spend a night in a landmark building in Barcelona, Spain &ndash Casa Vicens &ndash designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi (Antoni Gaudí i Cornet, 1852-1926), often looked upon as the greatest exponent of Modernisme (Catalan Modernism). As you dine in the ornate dining room and sleep in the master bedroom, you will not only be living a dream but experiencing it too.

The architectural masterpiece has been listed on Airbnb.

Casa Vicens, planned as a lavish summerhouse, was the first house designed by Antoni Gaudí between 1883 and 1885, and is now one of the serial properties titled &lsquoThe Works of Antoni Gaudi&rsquo, inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is considered as one of the first buildings of the Art Nouveau movement. Located in Barcelona&rsquos Gr&agravecia neighbourhood, it opened its doors to the public in November 2017 after three years of restoration and renovation that enabled the house to be restored to its original condition.

According to Airbnb, guests with secured bookings will be greeted by Host Emili Masferrer, a member of the team that recently transformed the house into a house museum. Guests will be taken on an exclusive tour of the house (when distancing norms will be adhered to) during which Emili will share his insights from the recent restoration project. The Airbnb release quotes Emili as saying that Gaudi designed the house as a nature oasis.

Dinner (a Gaudí-inspired Michelin star menu) will be served in the uniquely decorated dining room, an example of Gaudi&rsquos independent style and play of colour and texture, followed by a nightcap in the luxurious smoking room. The following morning, the stay concludes with a full Mediterranean breakfast in the lush private city garden.

According to Airbnb, the booking will open on a first come first served basis on July 12, at 4pm Central European Summer Time (7.30pm Indian Standard Time), for a one night stay for a group of two guests this fall, at airbnb.com/gaudi. However guests have to adhere to terms and conditions as well as pandemic regulations. According to a release by the service provider, the stay will cost 1&euro (plus taxes and fees), and is a symbolic value in order to be able to correctly process the booking.
