Looking to escape the monotony of lockdown and glide over the picture-perfect hills and lush valleys, exploring the snow-cacked mountains and unblemished wildlife. Well, if that&rsquos what you are craving for, then we have good news. Himachal Pradesh is gearing up to host a three-day paragliding and dragon boat festival at Dalhousie and Chamba.
The state is all set to organize the festivities after the upliftment of the COVID19 lockdown at the scenic hill stations to entice visitors and boost tourism in the region. The authorities of both the festivals stated that it will help attract more visitors to both these regions.
Referring to the above, Chamba Deputy Commissioner DC Rana exclaimed that they have been planning to organize the three-day dragon festival in Chamera Lake at Taleru while the paragliding festival will be held in Khajjiar near Dalhousie.
Mr. Rana revealing more details about the festival added it will take place in the month of October and also that the administration has been informed to finalize a few spots for the paragliding events the tourists would love to visit during their trip to Dalhousie.
While Deputy Commissioner further elaborated on the idea behind hosting these festivals is to increase footfall and revive the enthusiasm among the adventure seekers, nature lovers, and also those connected to the tourism industry in the region.
Apart from, the administration is hoping that these events would further help in creating local job opportunities and provide support to the local economy.
The festival is not only aimed at luring visitors to these quaint spots, but also aid by the state administration in hope that the three-day festivals will help create several job opportunities for the local artisans providing support to the local economy.
The district administration has drafted a plan of action to preserve and promote the rich arts and crafts of Chamba which includes 10,000 packing boxes of &lsquoChamba chappal&rsquo will be made available to Chamba Arts and Crafts Promotion Society for free of cost.
&ldquoSince many families of craftspersons and artists earn their livelihood from Chamba chappal, handkerchief, miniature paintings, sculpture, wood art and Chamba &lsquothal&rsquo, etc, steps are being taken to provide assistance to strengthen their economy,&rdquo said the DC.
The tourism sector welcomed the initiatives taken by the administration for encouraging the business of tourism reeling under huge losses due to the COVID pandemic. However, they hope that the government will permit those who have already received their first dose of COVID vaccine to visit Dalhousie.
