Manali
Cradled in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Manali is a beloved hill station known for its snow-capped peaks, dense pine forests, and adventure-laced charm. Set beside the sparkling Beas River, it combines natural beauty with spiritual depth and thrill-seeking opportunities.
Key attractions include the ancient Hadimba Temple, the Tibetan monasteries, and the quaint village of Vashisht, known for its soothing natural hot springs. A walk along the lively Mall Road leads to shops selling woollens, local crafts, and mountain delicacies, while the nearby Solang Valley becomes a playground for paragliding, snowboarding, and skiing.
The high-altitude Rohtang Pass, accessible in summer, offers stunning vistas of the Himalayas, while Manikaran Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine, adds a spiritual stopover amid steaming springs and silence. Manali’s cultural fabric reflects a blend of Himachali and Tibetan traditions, visible in its attire, festivals, and cuisine.
Food here is warming and rustic — from sidu (steamed bread) and dham (a festive platter), to trout fish, mountain chai, and apple-based desserts. The region is most popular between March and June for pleasant sightseeing, or from October to February, when snow blankets the landscape and adventure peaks.
