CGH Earth Wellness Reimagines Healing Through Ayurveda, Naturopathy, And Nature, CEO Sidarth Dominic Shares Thoughts
Across Kerala’s palaces and backwaters, misty Panchalimedu, and the coastal calm of Gokarna, CGH Earth Wellness has cultivated healing spaces that are as rooted in their environments as they are in ancient wisdom. At the helm is CEO Sidarth Dominic, whose vision blends authenticity, sustainability, and deep respect for individual care. From uncompromising Ayurvedic programmes at Kalari Kovilakom and Kalari Rasayana to natural medicine at Prakriti Shakti and reflective retreats at SwaSwara, CGH Earth offers wellness journeys that are deeply personal and ecologically mindful. In this conversation, Dominic reflects on preserving integrity in healing, the power of place, and the future of transformative wellness.
CGH Earth’s approach to wellness feels deeply rooted in place and philosophy. How do your four wellness retreats each reflect a distinct healing identity?
At CGH Earth Wellness, our journey into the realm of wellness began over two and a half decades ago, evolving from a boutique hospitality enterprise to a holistic experience that immerses travellers in the essence of each destination. Our philosophy is rooted in responsible luxury, where we respect the environment, honour local cultures, and foster inclusive communities.
As we explored the rich heritage of Kerala, we were inspired by the ancient science of Ayurveda, which seamlessly integrated into our hospitality offerings. This led to the creation of Kalari Kovilakom, nestled within a 200-year-old palace in Kollengode, and Kalari Rasayana, situated on the serene banks of the Paravur backwaters. These Ayurveda clinics embody our commitment to environmental sensitivity, community inclusivity, and immersive experiences.
Our journey further unfolded with the realisation that Naturopathy held immense potential as a global offering. Thus, Prakriti Shakti, our clinic of Natural Medicine, was born amidst the misty hills of Panchalimedu. This haven for natural healing embodies our values of sustainability, community, and destination-centric wellness.
Beyond our three wellness clinics, we recognised a growing demand for transformative getaways that rejuvenate both body and mind. This insight led to the creation of SwaSwara in Gokarna, where the philosophy is simple yet profound: a holiday can be a journey of self-discovery and renewal. SwaSwara offers an immersive experience that encourages guests to slow down, listen to their inner rhythms, and sync with nature.
Our wellness initiatives aim to redefine the art of relaxation, fostering a deeper connection between our guests, the environment, and themselves.
Kalari Rasayana and Kalari Kovilakom are known for their authentic, NABH-accredited Ayurvedic care. What does authenticity in Ayurveda mean to CGH Earth—and how do you uphold it?
For us, authenticity is the cornerstone of our wellness philosophy. It means honouring the timeless traditions of Ayurveda, passed down through generations, without dilution or compromise. Our team of dedicated doctors, led by Dr Jouhar, our Head of Ayurveda, is guided by an unwavering principle—to uphold the integrity of this ancient science, uncompromised by fleeting demands or external pressures.
In an industry where expediency often tempts compromise, we stand firm in our conviction. Our journey has taught us that true wellness lies not in shortcuts, but in the unadulterated essence of Ayurveda. We’ve come to realise that what we offer must be genuine, untainted by concessions to convenience or stakeholder interests. This unwavering commitment to integrity is what sets us apart, and it's a promise we make to every individual who entrusts us with their wellbeing.
As we continue on this path, we're resolute in our determination to preserve the sanctity of Ayurveda, ensuring that our practices and treatments remain true to their roots. This is not just a matter of principle; it's a matter of integrity, and it's what drives us to deliver wellness experiences that are not only transformative but also true to the science.
Naturopathy plays a key role at Prakriti Shakti and SwaSwara. How do these practices complement your Ayurvedic offerings, and what makes them effective in today’s wellness landscape?
While Ayurveda and Naturopathy share a common goal of promoting holistic wellness, they are distinct sciences that require a nuanced understanding and approach. At CGH Earth, we acknowledge and respect their unique philosophies, methodologies, and applications. Rather than conflating or homogenising these two disciplines, we recognise the importance of preserving their individuality and allowing them to flourish in their own distinct ways.
Indeed, there are common threads that weave these sciences together, such as the transformative benefits of Yoga and the importance of a wholesome, plant-based diet. These shared attributes not only underscore the interconnectedness of holistic wellness, but also highlight the potential for synergy and complementarity between Ayurveda and Naturopathy. By embracing and celebrating their differences, we can unlock the full potential of each science and provide each individual with meaningful, transformative experiences that cater to their unique needs and aspirations.
With highly personalised treatment plans and a strong doctor-to-guest ratio, what role does individualised care play in CGH Earth’s wellness philosophy?
At the heart of our wellness philosophy lies a commitment to personalised care. Our Unique Selling Proposition is rooted in our ability to craft bespoke experiences for each person, tailoring our treatments, dietary recommendations, and yoga practices to their individual needs and circumstances. This bespoke approach is made possible by our carefully curated patient-to-staff ratio, which typically ranges from 20 to 25 individuals per property. Our extensive team of experienced doctors, therapists, and support staff work in harmony to deliver exceptional care, ensuring that each person receives the attention and nurturing they deserve.
How do healing programmes like Panchakarma and the Sleep Enhancement Retreat balance ancient science with modern wellbeing needs?
In today's fast-paced world, there is a growing recognition of the timeless wisdom inherent in ancient sciences like Ayurveda and Naturopathy. We witness this firsthand in the response of individuals, who are increasingly drawn to the holistic principles and practices that underpin these traditional healing arts. At CGH Earth, we acknowledge and respect this global shift towards more natural and sustainable approaches to wellness. Our commitment is clear: to offer traditional, uncompromised Ayurveda and Naturopathy treatments and lifestyle guidance that remain true to their roots. We refuse to dilute or compromise the integrity of these ancient sciences, instead choosing to preserve their essence and potency in every aspect of our wellness offerings.
Sustainability is integral to CGH Earth’s identity. How do your wellness centres ensure that healing the self goes hand-in-hand with caring for the planet?
At CGH Earth Wellness, we fundamentally believe that the pursuit of human wellbeing and the preservation of our planet are not mutually exclusive but rather intricately intertwined. In fact, the ancient sciences of Ayurveda and Naturopathy are rooted in a deep understanding of our interconnectedness with nature. These timeless traditions emphasise the importance of living in harmony with the natural world, respecting the rhythms of the seasons, and honouring the delicate balance of the ecosystem. For us, healing and care are not limited to the individual, but extend to the planet as a whole. By embracing this holistic perspective, we strive to create wellness experiences that not only nurture the body and mind but also foster a deeper appreciation for the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
What lasting impact do you hope guests take with them after a wellness journey at CGH Earth—beyond physical detox or relaxation?
Over the past two and a half years, we have come to realise that our visitors hold us in high regard precisely because of our unwavering commitment to genuineness and integrity. Our uncompromising approach to wellness, rooted in the timeless principles of Ayurveda and Naturopathy, resonates deeply with those who seek a more holistic path to health. But it is not just our dedication to these ancient sciences that sets us apart. It is also the warmth and sincerity of our hospitality, infused with the values that define CGH Earth—a deep reverence for the environment, a strong bond with the local community, and a celebration of the unique cultural heritage of the regions we serve. This harmonious blend of tradition, nature, and heartfelt welcome has earned us the trust and loyalty of our patrons, and the privilege of serving them humbles us.
