Theatre: Kahanikaar

Padatik is an experimental theatre company with an auditorium in Kolkata. It has seen many collaborations with troupes and directors from other Indian cities as well as from abroad. This solo performance by theatre artist Paraangad Shaw is all about the journey of a storyteller, or kahanikaar, who reads, sells, writes, listens, and tells different stories, through which a small portion of the world appears on the stage.

Art And Culture: AMI Arts Festival 2023

Whether you're an art connoisseur, a budding artist, or someone simply looking to be inspired, this arts festival welcomes you to experience the magic of creativity with art exhibitions, workshops, an art bazaar, performances, and film screenings. The Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC) is a five-story structure with 70,000 square feet dedicated to art, artists, and art lovers. It includes a huge art gallery, an amphitheatre, a dance studio, and a books and materials library. It hosts art shows, fairs, workshops, and programmes. The fifth floor of the multidisciplinary art centre houses two libraries, a free book library and a materials library, which is a first-of-its-kind in India.

Ballimaaraan is named after the Delhi lanes where Mirza Ghalib once lived. Ballimaaraans music is a distinct genre in and of itself. Their songs have gained a cult following over the years and have struck a chord with young people. The fusion of retro and contemporary tunes elicits a wide range of emotions from the audience. Actor, playwright, and musician Piyush Mishra has composed the songs. Book tickets here.

Crafts: Barra Din Mela

The Crafts Council of West Bengal is hosting a pre-Christmas fair, Barra Din, showcasing some of the best handicrafts, textiles, home decor, etc, from across India. The Sutra stall will display handcrafted contemporary Mekhla sets and Sarees along with jewelleries and accessories Like potli bags. The CoverZ stall will have Silk/ Tussar sarees, embroidered kurtas, kaftans, cushion covers, bed, and table linen. You can also enjoy live demos by craftspersons. There will be food stalls serving delicious Christmas goodies. And some carol singing as well. If you are in town, hit up the fair to pick up some great gifts and stocking fillers.
