Amrit Udyan, previously Mughal Gardens, spread over 15 acres, is considered the heart of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Initially, it included the East Lawn, Central Lawn, Long Garden, and Circular Garden. Additional features such as Herbal-I, Herbal-II, Tactile Garden, Bonsai Garden, and Arogya Vanam were added during the presidencies of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Shri Ram Nath Kovind. The Udyan Utsav 2024, which will showcase Coleus, Celosia, Tuberose, and other rare seasonal flowers, is expected to be a remarkable display of landscaping. Visitors can expect new attractions in Amrit Udyan, including a designated garden for children called Bal Vatika, a 225-year-old Sheesham tree with an interesting history, a treehouse, Nature’s Classroom, and the Bonsai and Circular Gardens showcasing diverse flora and fauna. A lively food court and ongoing exhibitions will provide refreshments and entertainment. Additionally, from September 12th to 15th, Vividhta Ka Amrit Mahotsav will celebrate Southern India’s rich cultural heritage and unique traditions as part of Amrit Udyan.
