The Residency Towers, Coimbatore: A Familiar Address, Newly Refreshed

A landmark hotel updates its rooms, dining and wellness spaces, reinforcing the city’s growing appeal for business and leisure travellers

Coimbatore has long been known as Tamil Nadu’s industrial powerhouse, but in recent years the city has steadily expanded its appeal beyond boardrooms and textile corridors. With improved connectivity, proximity to the Western Ghats and a growing dining and retail scene, it now attracts a mix of corporate travellers, families and weekend visitors. For many of them, The Residency Towers has been a familiar address. Its recent refurbishment does not mark a reopening, but rather a considered upgrade—one that aligns the property with the evolving expectations of modern travellers.

Strategically located a short drive from Coimbatore International Airport and the main railway junction, and close to Brookefields Mall as well as the city’s commercial hubs, the hotel combines convenience with relative calm. The refurbishment introduces redesigned interiors and upgraded facilities across its 135 rooms and suites, while retaining the architectural character that has made it a recognizable presence in the city.

Smart Stays in the Heart of the City

Accommodation is spread across four categories, each featuring integrated automation systems that control lighting, temperature and entertainment. High-speed connectivity and streamlined workspaces cater to business guests, while upgraded furnishings and contemporary finishes aim to enhance comfort for leisure travellers.

The Club Suites offer expansive city views, while the 1,300 sq ft Presidential Suite includes a private pantry and massage chair. Across categories, the design language leans towards clean lines and muted tones, reflecting a shift towards understated, functional luxury.

According to Amarnath S, General Manager of The Residency Towers, the refurbishment was conceived as a way to honor the hotel’s long-standing place in Coimbatore while updating it for current travel needs. The refreshed interiors retain subtle references to South Indian architectural influences, paired with modern materials and technology.

Dining as a Destination

Food and beverage remain central to the hotel’s identity. Pavilion serves as the all-day dining restaurant, offering buffet spreads and an à la carte menu with global selections. Chin Chin focuses on Oriental cuisine, with an emphasis on presentation and premium ingredients.

Afghan Grill offers poolside dining

Afghan Grill provides an al fresco dining option by the pool, centered on grilled specialties and robust northern flavors. The Edition Bar introduces a quieter lounge setting inspired by a library concept, with a curated selection of wines, spirits and cocktails. For a more casual atmosphere, Bike & Barrel operates as an English-style pub with music, signature cocktails and premium brews.

Together, these venues ensure that guests have multiple dining formats within the property, whether for business lunches, family dinners or social evenings.

Wellness and Events

The hotel’s wellness offerings include Respa, which combines traditional and contemporary therapies, alongside a salon, a gymnasium and an outdoor swimming pool. These facilities are particularly relevant for longer stays and corporate travellers seeking balance during work trips.

Banquet halls and meeting spaces, equipped with updated technology, continue to position the hotel as a venue for weddings, social functions and corporate events. Given Coimbatore’s strong business base, this dual focus on leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) remains significant.

The Residency Hotels group, which operates seven properties across South India

The Residency Towers, Coimbatore is part of The Residency Hotels group, which operates seven properties across South India, including Chennai, Puducherry, Karur and Rameswaram and a new property soon to open in Madurai. With its recent refurbishment, The Residency Towers strengthens its position within Coimbatore’s hospitality landscape. For travellers drawn to the city’s growing mix of commerce, culture and access to nature, it remains a centrally located option—now updated to reflect the expectations of today’s guest.
