When I was walking out of my luxurious thatched-roof cottage on my first day at Khem Villas, I spotted a langur partially hidden in the copse enjoying a shower under the sprinkler. The second day there, after coming back from the safari, I saw a jungle cat running away from the dining area and diving into the bushes. On my last evening, I sat at the bar area reading a book while a kingfisher dove into the water of the pond in front of me, and a red-tailed bulbul tried to steal a few sips of tea from a cup that had been left unguarded. The staff showed me a video of a tigress named Lightning sitting near the pond in broad daylight as the guests of the camp watched her breathlessly from afar. Machli, the most photographed tigress of Ranthambore, spent her last days strolling around the property as well. If its a raw jungle experience youre looking for, with the added flavour of pain-staking eco-tourism initiatives, then Khem Villas, a beautiful property situated close to the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan, should definitely be on your list.
