Ingrid, the motherly Austrian Airlines flight attendant, peered out of the aircraft window and shook her head, &ldquoNo snow. I was hoping that you would get to see a white Vienna, which is lovely.&rdquo During the six-hour flight from Delhi, she had truly endeared herself to us&mdasha group of journalists and travel writers from India&mdashwith her warmth, fussing over us with &ldquoIs the coffee hot enough&rdquo and &ldquoDo you want another pillow&rdquo But we couldn&rsquot quite agree with her on this. Dawn was just breaking as we landed (5.55am, Vienna time), and though it was still dark, we were glad to see a clear, cloudless sky. After all, we were here on a mission to experience the extraordinary sights, sounds, scents and tastes of what has been described as &lsquoone of the most beautiful boulevards in the world&rsquo. Vienna&rsquos famous Ringstrasse (Ring Road) is celebrating its 150th birth anniversary this year. Sunshine was of paramount importance&mdashif not a prerequisite. At least that&rsquos what we thought.
