National Gallery of Modern Art

Located at the end of Rajpath, the gallery was once the palace of Maharaja of Jaipur hence it&rsquos also called as the Jaipur house. Inaugurated in the year 1954, the museum has more than 14000 art works in display. One would require more than a day to go through all the master pieces by some famed artists of the past such as Raja Ravi Verma, Thomas Daniell, Abindranath Tagore and Amrita Sher- Gil. The museum has a preview theatre, conservation laboratory, library, a cafeteria and a museum shop making it one of the largest modern art museums in the world. Dhoomimal Gallery

Established in the year 1936, Dhoomimal in the Cannaught Place is India&rsquos oldest art gallery. It has been a great platform and a constant motivator for the new artists such as G R Iranna, Hemraj and Somnath Singh which are now renowned names in the contemporary world of art. Dhoomimal has exhibited the works of some famous artists such as M F Hussain, Shanti Dave, F N Souza etc. and has continuously supported the new talents. Shankar&rsquos International Dolls Museum

Entertaining the kids as well as the elders since 1965, the Shankar&rsquos International Dolls museum is the keeper of more than 7000 dolls from around the world. Situated in the Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, the museum not only exhibits dolls but also educates the visitors about the culture and costumes of the country where they come from. This museum can be a good spot to give a family visit and admire the largest collection of costume dolls in the world. Displaying dolls from over 85 countries, the museum can offer you some priceless experience.

National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum

Commonly known as the National Crafts museum, the place reflects the perfect tradition of Indian craftsmen. With more than 35000 iconic exhibits of paintings, clay model, textiles and works on stone and wood, it is one of the largest craft museums in India. Set near the Pragati Maidan it has many themed galleries such as Rural Craft gallery, Textile gallery, Gallery of popular culture etc. It took more than 2 decades for the late freedom fighter Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay to establish this museum. The museum also has model of a village spread across 5 acres of land designed to provide the visitors with the perfect experience of rural India.  You can buy souvenirs from the traditional craftsmen at the museum and encounter some relics of the bygone Indian cultures.

 Kiran Nadar Museum of Art

A non commercial and non profitable private establishment by Kiran Nadar an acclaimed art collector, the Kiran Nadar Museum of art is the first philanthropic private museum in India. The main attraction of the museum being the paintings by the 20^th century artists, it has organised several exhibitions and workshops to inculcate the sense of art in the children and the youngsters. Established in 2010 near Saket, entry to this private museum is free. The museum boasts about its movie screening and well organised biennale for the guests.
