Celebrating Holi In Maharashtra And Goa Just Got Easier For Tourists, Thanks To Central Railway’s Special Trains

Holi is just around the corner, and the excitement is palpable. India’s vibrant festival of colours, celebrated on Phalgun Purnima, falls on March 14 this year. As millions of eager travellers plan for festive weekend travels, Central Railway is preparing to meet the surge in demand by rolling out special trains.

Central Railway made an announcement on Saturday regarding the operation of special trains to connect Mumbai to destinations such as Nagpur, Nanded, and Madgaon in Goa. To accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger volume, a series of additional trains will also be running from Pune to Nagpur.

The Holi special trains will operate from two major hubs in Mumbai: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. This announcement comes directly from the Central Railway, which has provided comprehensive updates via a series of posts on X.

Schedule Of The Holi Special Trains

All trains will have two trips each week, except for the route from Mumbai's CSMT to Nagpur, which will offer four trips to the citizens.

Mumbai to Nagpur (CSMT-Nagpur):

Train No. 02139 will operate on March 9, 11, 16, and 18. The return service, Train No. 02140, will depart from Nagpur on the same dates. This train features AC and sleeper classes to accommodate different budget preferences.

Pune to Nagpur:

Train No. 01469 will run on March 11 and 18. A second train, No. 01467, will operate on March 13 and 19. Return journeys will take place on March 12, 13, 19, and 20.

Mumbai to Goa (LTT-Madgaon):

Train No. 01129 will depart on March 13 and 20. The return, Train No. 01130, will run on March 14 and 21. This train halts at popular Konkan Railway stations, catering to tourists heading to Goa’s beaches and resorts.

Mumbai to Nanded (LTT-Nanded):

Train No. 01105 departs on March 12 and 19. The return service, Train No. 01106, will also run on the same dates. This train serves as an important connection for pilgrimage travellers, especially those visiting religious sites.

Bookings for the special Holi trains will open on February 24. With festivities on the horizon, demand is expected to soar, particularly for popular routes to destinations like Goa.
