Delhi’s rich historical tapestry is hardly a secret to anyone who has spent even a little time in the city. Its monuments are dispersed throughout neighbourhoods, roads and ruins, each one offering a glimpse into a distinct era of its history. But at Qutub Minar, those chapters seem to converge in a way that makes the monument both beautiful and unique. What makes the soaring minar unique is that it is home to the remnants of successive dynasties, an ancient iron pillar from the 11th century and an unfinished tower that once embodied a ruler’s outsized ambition. Its towers were constructed by different rulers through various time periods. It is a place where centuries do not simply follow one another but also they coexist to preserve a meaningful past.
