Uttarakhand Tourism has earmarked the the Tehri Lake in the Garhwal Himalayas as an emerging adventure tourism destination in India. The lake is part of the New Tehri township, which is 110km away from Dehra Dun and 300km away from Delhi. The state tourism department has been holding the Tehri Lake Adventure Festival to attract more thrill-seeking tourists into the area.  In 2015, the festival will be held from November 28-29. The 2014 edition of the festival included a lot of activities such as displays by professionals purusing water rafting, kayaking, jet skiing, paragliding para jumping by Air Force personnel panel discussions and workshops on adventure tourism policies, etc.  The department also aims to provide meaningful employment to people of the region through adventure tourism in the area.
