At first glance, Brisbane can seem like a city that goes to bed early. For Anishka Sharan, who moved to the Queensland capital from India eight years ago, the first few weeks were a lesson in adjusting to a different rhythm. Shops and restaurants seemed to shut by 6 or 7pm, streets emptied and the city felt almost too quiet. Today, after years of living here, she sees that early hush differently. Brisbane, she says, is less about rushing from one attraction to another and more about making room for life beyond work.
