All You Need To Know About Dino Desert, Malaysia's Largest Dinosaur Park

On the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur lies the Monkeys Canopy Resort, a retreat that promises a leisurely stay amid thick jungles and beautiful skies. Now, guests can travel back in time to the age of the dinosaurs as Malaysia’s largest dinosaur park opens its doors.

A Realistic Experience

The Dino Desert has life-size animatronic dinosaurs and educational exhibits which bring the prehistoric world to life. The park is perfect for both kids and adults with a fascination for these ancient creatures. You will feel like you are in the “Jurassic Park” movies as the dinosaurs move their necks and bare their huge teeth at you as you walk past them. Each dinosaur display is complemented by informative plaques which educates visitors about the creature in front of them.

Spread a little over four hectares, the theme park has 144 dinosaurs from Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops to Mamenchisaurus, Torvosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Velociraptors and more. Arguably, the most eye-catching displays are the ones where different dinosaurs fight each other. A popular spot features a clash between a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Spinosaurus.

The park features a desert landscape complete with sand dunes and cacti as backdrops for the dinosaurs. For children, there is a dinosaur-themed playground with slides, swings and a jungle gym. Perhaps the best time to catch this experience is at night when the golden hours of sunset make the experience more thrilling and when the park’s beautiful “Aurora Night” lights turn on to provide an enchanting glow.

If walking around has left you tired then stop at the Bone Bites café for a drink and snacks (including dinosaur-shapped nuggets). Make sure to check out the Fossil Zone, which features replicas of massive dinosaur skeletons, and the Look Out Peak, with its unparalleled views of the park, before leaving.

A word of caution for visitors: due to the park's open-air design there is minimal shade from the blazing sun. Hence, guests are advised to wear loose-fitting clothing for comfort, carry refillable water bottles, and use sunglasses, umbrellas and sunscreen to protect against the sun's rays. Keep an eye on how the children are faring during your time at the theme park.

Tickets start from approximately INR 982 for adults and INR 804 for senior citizens and children. The Dino Desert is open every day from 10AM-10PM.
