Dabeli was invented in the 1960s by a man from Mandvi called Keshavji Gabha Chudasama, also known as Kesha Malam. When he started his business, he sold a dabeli at one Anna or six paise. The dabeli masala has its origins in the Kutch region's Mandvi, which is still regarded as the most authentic. As a result, the dabeli is also known as Kutchi Dabeli, taking its cue from the region of its origin.

Getting there 

The only way to get to Kutch is by road, as it is mostly desert. Kutch city does not have an airport or railway station of its own. Even though the Bhuj airport is the closest one, you may still not find direct flights to this airport from any major cities. What can be done is to first fly to the Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport in Ahmedabad, from where you can book a cab or a taxi to reach the Rann of Kutch.
