UAE Has Announced 5-Year Multiple-Entry Visas For All Tourists

Prior to this, single or multiple-entry visas were valid only between 30 and 90 days from the date of entry for foreign tourists.

In a bid to boost tourism in the region, the United Arab Emirates has introduced a new multiple-entry tourist visa for all nationalities, which will be valid for five years. The announcement came on January 6th, 2020, as the UAE Cabinet &mdash headed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum &mdash approved this new amendment, tweeted the government of Dubai Media Office.

Sheikh Maktoum, who is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai, also tweeted that the country attracts about 21 million tourists each year. This announcement aims to turn the UAE into a &ldquomajor global tourist destination.&rdquo

This new amended system will come into effect in the first quarter of 2020, but the other details including the visa application fee have not been finalised&mdashor released&mdashyet.

Prior to this announcement, single or multiple-entry visas were valid only between 30 and 90 days from the date of entry for foreign tourists. Moreover, the UAE government communication office&rsquos Twitter account also issues a waiver for the visa for Mexican citizens travelling to the country.

This announcement comes on the heels of the Dubai Expo 2020, an international trade fair, which opens on the 20th of October, 2020. The Emirates will also complete 50 years in 2021.
