Thailand e-Visa To Be Available For Indian Travellers From January 1, 2025, Onwards

Applications for e-visas must be submitted through Thailand’s official e-visa portal. Processing will take approximately 14 days from the receipt of the visa fee.

The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi has announced the implementation of e-visa facilities for Indian passport holders starting January 1, 2025. The new system aims to simplify the visa application process, allowing payments via offline methods. A non-refundable visa fee will apply, with details provided by the Embassy and Consulate-Generals.

Applications for e-visas must be submitted through Thailand’s official e-visa portal. Processing will take approximately 14 days from the receipt of the visa fee.

Ordinary passport applications through processing agencies will only be accepted until December 16, 2024. For diplomatic and official passport holders, direct applications to the Embassy or Consulate-Generals will be accepted until December 24, 2024.

Visa-free and On-Arrival Options Remain Available

Indian passport holders remain eligible for a 60-day visa exemption for tourist and brief business travel. Visa-on-arrival options will also continue, accommodating last-minute travel plans.

Thailand remains a preferred destination for Indian tourists, with popular locations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Koh Samui drawing millions annually. The country is also a hotspot for Indian weddings and honeymoons.

In 2019, over 2 million Indian tourists visited Thailand, bolstering its reputation as a prime travel destination. The post-pandemic recovery has further boosted tourism, a key contributor to Thailand’s economy.
