Uttarakhand is aiming to boost tourism in the picturesque region around Lake Tehri. Soon, a cruise ship service will start on the lake, offering a new way to experience the area's natural beauty. This initiative is expected to benefit both locals and tourists. Describing it as an "unprecedented move," officials said the move aims to encourage village tourism in the surrounding areas.

Reports suggest that Lake Tehri, formed by the Tehri Dam—the highest dam in the world—has immense potential as a tourist destination. The cruise ship would employ locals who faced challenges after the dam's construction.

In addition, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a 25 per cent discount on stays at Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) hotels to encourage winter tourism. To ensure smooth experiences, the government is strengthening emergency management systems for bad weather and speeding up road repairs in the hill state.
