Set-Jetting All Set To Be The Top Travel Trend In 2024

In 2024, "set-jetting" is set to dominate the travel scene in India, with a staggering 94 per cent of Indian travellers expressing a desire to explore filming locations of their favourite movies and TV series, according to the latest insights from the recently unveiled "Travel Trends: Redefining value through experience in 2024" survey.

The research, conducted by global travel-tech platform Skyscanner with a sample size of 1,000 Indian respondents, highlighted that movie and TV show destinations are the primary sources of inspiration for Indian travellers. This trend, dubbed "Main Character Energy," signifies the growing enthusiasm among travellers to immerse themselves in the iconic settings of their beloved shows and films.

Travelling Like The Stars

Topping the list of must-visit destinations for 2024 is Manali in Himachal Pradesh, featured in the blockbuster "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani." Following closely is Ladakh, captivating 47 per cent of travellers who aspire to experience the mesmerising landscapes showcased in "3 Idiots."

London in the United Kingdom claims the third spot, with 43 per cent of Indian travellers yearning to infuse a touch of royalty into their lives, drawing inspiration from "The Crown." Paris in France secures the fourth position, enticing 42 per cent of travellers eager to relish the charm of the city a la Emily Cooper from "Emily in Paris."

Skyscanner noted a substantial 23 per cent surge in searches from India to Paris in January following the December release of the third season of the popular sitcom.

The report further reveals that 86 per cent of Indian travellers are planning to maintain or increase their overseas travel frequency in 2024 compared to the previous year. Among the top destinations gaining attention in 2024 are Da Nang in Vietnam, Almaty in Kazakhstan, and Baku in Azerbaijan.

On a global scale, Nice in France emerges as the ultimate destination, securing the top spot for the Best Value Destinations category. Geneva in Switzerland, Tokyo in Japan, and Manama in Bahrain follow suit, showcasing the diverse travel interests of Indian globetrotters.
