Punjab To Develop Nangal As A Tourist Hub, Jhajjar Bachauli As State's First Leopard Safari

Recently, the Punjab government unveiled plans for establishing Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary as one of the first leopard safaris in the state, simultaneously also turning Nangal into a popular tourist destination. Jhajjar Bachauli To Become Punjab’s First Leopard Safari

The first leopard safari site in Punjab is expected to be the Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Rupnagar district close to Anandpur Sahib. The programme supports the state's eco-tourism industry and the government's efforts to conserve wildlife.

Covering an area of over 290 hectares, Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary is home to an impressive range of wildlife, including wild boars, barking deer, leopards, and the birds. Owing to the region's steadily growing leopard population, it's a good place for a focused safari experience.

The sanctuary will also receive infrastructure improvements under the new plan, including regulated entry zones, eco-friendly tourism amenities, and well-defined safari routes, all of which will minimise animal disturbance.
