Veer Jivaji Mahale, the Maratha warrior remembered for saving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during the Battle of Pratapgad, is finally set to receive a memorial near the very fort where his name became part of history. The Maharashtra government has announced that a grand memorial will be built at the foothills of Pratapgad Fort in Satara district, with INR 1 crore allocated for the first phase of the project. Beyond honouring one of the Maratha empire's most celebrated yet often overlooked heroes, the move is also expected to strengthen the region's appeal as a heritage tourism destination.
