Kinnaur Kailash Yatra 2026 To Begin From July 30 After Safety Review: Registration, Dates, And Key Guidelines

Devotees planning to undertake the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra this year can finally start preparing for the pilgrimage. After being postponed due to safety concerns along the route, the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra 2026 is now expected to begin on July 30.

Officials had earlier flagged several risks along the trekking route, including active glaciers, falling rocks, and landslide-prone stretches. Following a fresh review of the route and safety arrangements, the pilgrimage is now set to resume. Since the trek remains challenging, pilgrims have been advised to complete all formalities and follow the official guidelines before starting the journey.

Yatra Dates Revised

The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra was originally scheduled to take place from July 1 to July 30. However, after the route remained closed for safety assessments, the pilgrimage schedule has been shortened.

The yatra will now be held from July 30 to August 10, subject to favourable weather conditions. Authorities have also said that the trek may be delayed, modified, or suspended if weather conditions become unsafe.

Only 375 Pilgrims Allowed Per Day

To ensure safety along the high-altitude route, only 375 pilgrims will be allowed to undertake the yatra each day. The daily quota has been divided across different registration modes:

• 175 slots through online registration

• 125 slots through offline registration

• 75 slots through the Adventure Tour Operators Association Kinnaur

Since the number of slots is limited, devotees planning to join the pilgrimage have been advised to register early.

When Will Registrations Open?

The online registration portal will open on July 28 at 10 AM. Initially, registrations will be available for pilgrimage dates between July 30 and August 4.

Those opting for offline registration will need to report to the Registration Camp at Tangling Village on July 30 by 6 AM.

Medical Fitness Certificate Is Mandatory

A valid medical fitness certificate is compulsory for everyone undertaking the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra. Pilgrims can either obtain the certificate from a registered medical officer in their area before the pilgrimage or undergo a medical examination at the Medical Camp in Tangling Village.

Authorities have made it clear that no devotee will be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage without completing both the mandatory registration process and medical verification.

Authorities Review Safety Arrangements

Preparations for the pilgrimage are currently being reviewed by officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place before the yatra begins.

According to reports, a meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of Kalpa SDM and Yatra Organising Committee chairman Praveen Bhardwaj to review the preparations.

The discussions covered key aspects of the pilgrimage, including traffic management, medical facilities, drinking water supply, security, disaster response, and overall safety measures for pilgrims.

Pilgrims Advised To Follow Official Guidelines

The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra is considered one of Himachal Pradesh's most demanding pilgrimages because of its steep terrain, high altitude and unpredictable weather.

With the pilgrimage now set to resume from July 30, authorities have advised devotees to complete all registration formalities in advance and strictly follow the official instructions before beginning the trek. Since the route remains weather-dependent, pilgrims should also be prepared for possible changes to the schedule if conditions become unsafe.
