Kerala Floods Helpline Numbers, Places To Avoid & How You Can Help

This August, Kerala has been witness to the worst flood in its history, as unprecedented volumes of rainfall hit the state. All of Kerala&rsquos districts, including Idukki (the district with Munnar) Wayanad, Malappuram, Kannur, Ernakulam (in which lies Kochi) Palakkad, and Malappuram have been affected by landslides and flooding as water levels rise.

With rising numbers every day, the death toll in the state has now risen to 75 (or perhaps, more). The Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and NDRF, too, have been asked to mobilise additional manpower, boats and helicopters to scale up rescue and relief operations, according to the Press Trust of India.

All 14 districts have been declared as red alert, while public transport has been badly affected in the country. The Kochi metro services being suspended, and the Kochi airport has been shut for operations until Saturday, August 18.

 Staying Safe

The Chief Minister&rsquos Office, Kerala released the following list of emergency numbers for rescue operations for 8 districts.

The number for State Emergency Operations Centre is 0471-23664424 Toll-free Numbers 1077, 1070. The State disaster management control room number is 0471-2331639 and a number for availing rescue boats is 8547616013.
